What to expect:

We are pleased to invite you to an engaging workshop, in collaboration with Downe House School, Muscat. The event is designed to explore the transformative power of reading, examine effective methods of measuring reading progress in schools and introduce you to the innovative assessment solutions offered by Renaissance.

 

During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to:

       - Discover the power of reading: Learn about the significant impact reading can have on student development and academic success.

       - Explore assessment solutions: Gain insights into the advanced assessment tools, such as New Group Reading Test (NGRT) and Accelerated Reader (AR), to effectively measure and support reading progress.

       - Hear from Downe House School: Listen to representatives from Downe House School, a prestigious girls' school, as they share their experiences using Renaissance’s solutions to track and enhance their students' reading achievements in primary and secondary.

 

This workshop will also provide an excellent opportunity to connect with other educators from the region and build valuable professional relationships. There will also be face-to-face discussions with consultants from Renaissance and GL Education (now part of the Renaissance family) to address any queries and get personalised advice.

I have previously taught in the UK and held leadership roles in British International Schools across Malaysia, Egypt, and Oman. My experience includes using data-driven assessment to inform instruction and drive student progress. I prioritise differentiated instructional strategies that cater to diverse learning needs, with a particular focus on fostering strong literacy skills and a love for reading. My approach is rooted in creating inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive academically and personally.

Helen Booth-Smith

Deputy Head of School | Downe House Muscat

I started my career as an English teacher and have worked in both the UK state and private sector before moving oversees to Egypt and now Oman. Before moving into senior leadership, I was heavily involved in literacy programmes supporting literacy develop of both native and ESL learners. My particular passion is for reading and finding ways for young people today to get lost in literature. Being part of a new school here in Muscat, always us to innovate the way we deliver reading programmes for a modern age.

Ash is an International Consultant at GL Education, aiding major school groups to improve their students’ successes, through the effective use of formative data.

With over 8 years’ experience teaching in international schools throughout the Middle East and UAE, he experienced firsthand the benefits of using the data provided by GL Education’s assessments to create clear and purposeful interventions.  

Ash is a strong believer in the idea that all children can be successful learners.
